High profile conflicts suggest that global violence is worsening.  Not so!  Since 1992, violent conflict has been in steady decline.  One reason-peacebuilding is no longer seen solely as the task of (inter)national leaders.  Civil society is newly engaging in practical peacebuilding.  Grassroots religious ministers are strategically positioned to build peace.  This workshop is for those with a peacebuilder vocation.  It will examine the challenges of reconciliation, provide conceptual understandings of violent conflict and give hands-on skills needed for practical peacebuilders in the developing world.

Resource Person:  William Headley, CSSp, Ph.D., a sociologist and counselor, is the Founding Dean, Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies, University of San Diego.  He is on extended leave from Catholic Relief Services, where he was Counselor to the President of CRS and coordinated the agency's worldwide peacebuilding.
